Three autograph letters from Miss N. Wood of Marietta, [Ohio] to Hon. J. Pearce of Harlem Springs, Carroll Co., Ohio record her father's description of Marietta in 1791, Indian captives, Daniel Boone, and reminiscences of pioneer life in Ohio. Joseph Wood superintended the settlement of Bellville, and moved to Marietta in 1791, serving there as Register of the Land Office from 1800-1837. John Pearce was the first Common Pleas judge in Carroll Co. and editor of the Free Press.
